On January 28, 2024, we co-hosted "The Present and Future of Japan's Game Archives" online.

On January 28, 2024, we co-hosted "The Present and Future of Japan's Game Archives" online. The forum’s organizers were following:  the Ritsumeikan Center for Game Studie (host), the provisional ZEN University Historical Archives Research Center (co-host), and the Consortium for Game Archives (supported organization). 

This forum aimed at strengthening the importance of game preservation and collaboration between industry, government and academia. The forum began with an introduction by Koichi Hosoi, director of the Historical Archive Research Center, followed by a keynote speech on "The Practice of Archives Philosophy" by Ken Akamatsu (member of the House of Representatives).

The latter part featured discussions from industry key figures on the current state and challenges of game preservation from the perspectives of the nation, industry, and academia.

【Internet culture】 “Father of the Japanese Internet." We interviewed with Dr. Jun Murai.

On November 22, 2023, we conducted an oral history interview with Dr. Jun Murai, a computer scientist who is known as the "father of the Internet in Japan.” The interview mainly focused on the technology and communities that existed during the early days of the Internet.

ZEN University's History of Content Industry Archives Research Center (HARC) and Ritsumeikan University's The Art Research Center (ARC) Sign Collaboration Agreement for Joint Academic Research

On June 9, 2025, the Art Research Center (ARC) at Ritsumeikan University signed a Collaboration Agreement for Joint Academic Research with the History of Content Industry Archives Research Center (HARC) of ZEN University.

The signing ceremony took place at Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus and was attended by Professor Ryo Akama, Director of the ARC, and Professor Koichi Hosoi, Director of the HARC and faculty member of the College of Letters.

ZEN University HARC cooperates with the Agency for Cultural Affairs' "Nokosu! Ikasu!! Manga, Anime, and Games Exhibition in Tokyo 2025"

ZEN University's Content Industry History Archive Research Center (HARC) is pleased to announce that it will be cooperating with the Agency for Cultural Affairs' "Nokosu! Ikasu!! Manga, Anime, and Games Exhibition in Tokyo 2025," which will be held at the National Art Center, Tokyo from Saturday, June 14, 2025. HARC researcher Chitoko KOIDE is in charge of the games section of the exhibition.

The purpose of this exhibition is to consider archives in the fields of manga, anime, and games, and it is a traveling exhibition of the "Nokosu! Ikasu!! Manga, Anime, and Games Exhibition" held at the Kyoto International Manga Museum in 2024.
