Introduction of the IUT Challenger Prize

In July 2023, Mr. Nobuo Kawakami (founder of Dwango Inc.) personally announced the establishment of the IUT Challenger Prize, a $1 million prize for the first paper that demonstrates "an essential flaw" in the Inter-universal Teichmüller theory, originated by Professor Shinichi Mochizuki of Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Kyoto University.

The review process will be conducted by Nobuo Kawakami at his personal discretion, with the method kept secret, but the paper to be considered must be peer-reviewed and accepted or published from a mathematical journal that is referred to in MathSciNet and has published at least 10 papers on arithmetic geometry in the past 10 years.

ZEN Mathematics Center will act on behalf of Mr. Kawakami in receiving enquiries and accepting papers for this award.
